We are celebrating our 23rd Scenic Mountain Triathlon with the help of our new sponsors Brooks Run and Alpha Natural Resources on July 13,2008. The race begins at 10:00am. This is a very scenic race which is entirely within the Mononghela National Forest. Swim for .05 mi in a mountain top lake (cool/still water) then Bike for 17.1 mi. along a clear trout stream at 3988ft as you climb Kennison Mountain at a 9% grade. You will continue along Hwy 39/55 a national scenic byway (hard paved surface) to the Cranberry Mountain Nature Center where you will run out and back into the Cranberry Glades (mixed surface of pavement and compacted gravel).
Usually between 100 to 150 athletes total. All pre-registered racers are guaranteed a t-shirt, day of race registers get shirts while supply lasts. Pre-race Pasta dinner on Saturday night in historic Richwood, WV is free to all racers and open to the public. Wonderful post-race cookout at the finish lline.
