Kestrel Signs Pro Triathlete Shane Reed

Kestrel Bicycles announced today its sponsorship of New Zealander pro triathlete Shane Reed. An Olympic-distance specialist, Shane will represent New Zealand in the triathlon at the upcoming Beijing Summer Games.
"This is a really exciting time for me making the New Zealand Olympic team," says Reed. "It has been 15 years of dedication and hard work. I am also extremely excited about riding Kestrel. Triathlon being a relatively new Olympic sport has stepped up to new levels of racing and now every second counts. Racing a Kestrel Bike is another step towards excellence, and will give me the vital seconds I will need to win an Olympic medal."
Shane will ride the Kestrel RT-800 for the Olympics and the Airfoil Pro for other non-drafting events. Zipp wheels, Shimano components, Profile handlebars, Wipperman chains, and Vittoria tires will be his other sponsors on the bike.
In addition to the Olympics, Reed will compete throughout the summer including a couple stops in the United States. Reed will race at the Des Moines BG Triathlon World Cup in Iowa on June 22, and the Life Time Fitness Triathlon in Minneapolis, MN on July 12, where he'll compete against younger brother, Matt Reed - recent U.S. Olympic triathlon qualifier - in what could shape up to be a preview of the Summer Games for the competitive siblings.
