Lone Star Triathlon Festival

After close to a decade of organizing the popular New Hampshire-based Timberman 70.3, race director Keith Jordan brought nearly 2,000 athletes to the Lone Star Triathlon Festival in Galveston, Texas, Saturday and Sunday.

In it’s second year, the Lone Star Sprint Triathlon kicked off the racing weekend Saturday, March 29 with professionals Michael Lovato (Boulder, CO) and Andrea Fisher (Austin, TX) taking uncontested wins. Lovato’s winning 55:12 was over one minute faster than runner-up Patrick Davis and Fisher’s 1:01:15 was nearly four-minutes faster than her female competition.

Sunday’s marquee event, the Lone Star Half Iron, featured 560 finishers with Philippe Kozub (Bethesda, MD) winning the men's elite division by just under two minutes in 4:10:38. In a stacked amateur division, Austin Jackson of Virginia Beach, Virginia, crushed the competition, finishing in 4:14:49, nearly eight minutes ahead of second-place Geoffrey Whitfield (Cedar Park, TX). Kelly Lear-Kaul (Littleton, CO) took the women's title by over 20 minutes in 4:35:07, good for eighth place overall.

Jordan’s other events include the Mooseman, the sold-out Timberman 70.3 and the inaugural Longhorn Ironman 70.3 Austin. For more on these races, please go to endorfunsports.com.
